DIY security offers great value security for a range of budgets and people. How does it do this? Well as the name implies, you fit and maintain the equipment yourself. This comes with positives and negatives which are important to consider when deciding whether or not this is the security company for you.  

First let's consider the positive implications of a DIY system. Primarily, it's a lot cheaper than having one installed. In fact the cheapest system available on this site is just under $20 a month, and they offer the basic security kit for $19.95 (including the first month's monitoring).

The cheapest security package, the Cellular Home Security, comes with 24/7 monitoring, a 4G cellular, smash and grab defense, signs and stickers, and the various basic customer service provisions.

For just five more dollars you can upgrade to the Home Security Plus Mobile package, which allows you more control when on the move, from real time alerts to being able to remotely arm or disarm your alarm systems.

Further enhancements are available in two superior packages, allowing you even more automation over things such as your lights and thermostat, as well as remote video services. All of these packages come at a low price in comparison to a lot of their competitors.

If you do need some help then there's a free help line that you can call between 9am and 9pm.  The problem with installing your own security system, although it might be obvious, is that – sadly, dear reader – you probably don't know what you're doing in the way professional security personnel do.

Although the systems seem simple to install and use, without the appropriate training in where to place them and how to make sure they are working properly, you could leave yourself open to attack. And we're guessing that if you install your alarms incorrectly then your home insurance might not be too happy to pay up if the worst should happen.   

So there's a balance here. The systems available are great options for people who know what they're doing, and who are sure that their insurance companies won't put up a protest in the case of a burglary. However it could be a risk you don't want to take.

The site offers short videos (and we mean short, some of these videos are only 30 seconds long), instructions to help you out, but otherwise much of the site is a sales area rather than offering a wide range of security information. There is a home security section but it is too brief; this could really be improved upon because many people will want to find advice on how to keep their home safe and more safety tips beyond.
